Okay, let me explain...

This is 8:15am... again, rush hour traffic. As you can see, the taxi in the above picture is NOT pulled over to the side of the road, in fact is is IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD and he is picking up a passenger.

Furthermore to this story in front of him was ANOTHER TAXI OFF-LOADING people and TRANFERING them to THIS TAXI in above picture.

also, as you can see, the traffic light wasn't even red! IT WAS GREEN, YET THIS ASS STOPS TO PICK PEOPLE UP!

Ugh. And the cops do nothing.

THE TAXI SCOURGE Episode 2: The U-turn

One way traffic along the airport road.

No shoulder.

This crazy taxi driver just stops at one of busiest intersections in near rush-hour traffic and decides to make a u-turn in the face of on-coming traffic. Needless to say there was some serious honking and cursing. Also needless to say, the taxi driver didn't care about the safety of his passengers or any other road user for that matter.

THE TAXI SCOURGE Episode 1: The In-road

It's been a year and a few days since my last taxi rant, but really that's not because there's been nothing to report; it's more that there's so much these "death traps" do illegally, it's almost become acceptable here.

So, my intention is to try see for the next week or so how many days go by WITHOUT me encountering an illegal taxi episode. This would include being illegally parked, stopping randomly in the MIDDLE of the road and of course making a u-turn in the face of on-coming traffic. I will, as far as possible, bring you pictures together with each rant, although this will not always be possible.

Today is day 1. On my way to work, turning in to Beach Road from LeRoche Drive, in the lane I'm turing in to is a flippen taxi stopped right there offloading passengers. NOT pulled to the side in the clearly visible bus stop, NEXT TO IT in the road!

Workers Day

So it's Workers Day here in South Africa and I thought I'd do my patriotic duty and list what I love about this country.

We actually have a holiday called Workers Day where we get to not go to work.
