Writers Workshop

So I went to this writers workshop/retreat thing this weekend gone by. It was really awesome. Felt totally out of place coz of all the talent in the room, but man, was it good just to sit and chat to other writers and hear I'm not the only one who suffers the difficulties that come with trying to be creative all the time.

Thanks to Bryony for arranging it. Absolutely loved it!

Miracles do happen!

Unlike the title might suggest, this is actually NOT a sarcastic entry.

There have been a sudden spate of car accidents recently, all in which the cars were a write-off, but the people involved came out relatively unscathed. But non of these has had such a profound effect on me, as last week when a very close friend of mine, Craig, and his mom were in one such accident.

It was just incredible to hear how everything and everyone was in the right place, at the right time. The people on the scene, to the friends and family who were available to help out afterwards. It settled any issues in my mind that God still works miracles. Anyone wanna disagree with me with have a cup of steaming hot coffee coming their way at a rapid pace! hehehe.

But seriously, it's not possible for someone to survive an accident like that without God being in it.

The OC: The one Long Commercial

So, here's the thing...

I used to love this show. Those of you who know me personally would understand this.

Season 1 was indeed "all time".

Season 2. Blah.

Season 3? Apart from some cute s/s moments, it's been boring.

Four episodes, and then 4 weeks of nothing while we wait for all of America to get over their baseball obsessions. (Still not sure why a country with 100+ channels needs to show baseball on ALL of them, but we'll just move along shall we...)

So, four weeks of waiting for 3x05.

I watch it. I think: "What the hell was the point of that?"

Seriously, 43 minutes of non-plot-advancing rubbish. Ryan's leaving, Ryan's staying, Ryan's back in school. Yawn. NEXT! It's like when you're watching a show and there's commercial breaks, and you get up to make yourself another cup of coffee while Foschini tells you that a new fashion account will entitle you to 300 bucks off your next purchase or something. The only difference between a commercial and The OC lately, is that you get up to make the coffee while Ryan decides whether to be a fisherman or an architect... oh and APPARENTLY Marissa really loves him, even though she spends all her time with other guys... Ugh, Foschini's offer is sounding pretty good right now.

This article should summarize it a lot better.
